Asbestos-Containing Shingles to be Removed Normally at Washington Park Center

The roof replacement project at the Silver Lake Visitor Center in Washington State will not require a plastic covering despite the fact that the shingles contain 20% asbestos, according to this article. The shingles, which will be lifted with shovels, are not expected to crumble and release powder, said parks spokeswoman Virginia Painter. The old shingles will be replaced with slate-like shingles in late May, Painter added.
