Weeki Wachee Mermaid Theater to Once Again Feature Clamshell Roof

The Newton Perry Underwater Theatre at Weeki Wachee State Park is undergoing extensive roof renovations that will restore the facility's iconic clamshell roof. Originally built in 1959, the clamshell roof was designed to attract visitors to the underwater theater, but it was replaced in the 1970s with a standard shingle roof.
