Fulfilling Florida contractors’ continuing education requirements . . . in Charlotte, NC

You might not normally think of taking a trip to Charlotte, NC, to obtain course credits for your Florida contractor’s licence.

Well, in fact you can obtain four course hours there on July 19, thanks to Shumaker Loop & Kendrick LLP.

“That is correct. There is no need to travel to Florida. We are offering four credit hours to Florida construction license holders in Charlotte,” writes Shumaker director of marketing Jennifer Malin. Of course, her communication was intended for Charlotte-area contractors — but since the event is held in a hotel, a Florida contractor wishing a North Carolina experience could easily combine the program with some personal time, perhaps to visit the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

The program includes:
  • The ABC’s of Florida Construction Lien Law (one hour business practice)
  • Contract Changes, Constructive Changes (one hour general)
  • Differing Site Conditions (one hour general)
  • Chapter 558 and other Notable Dispute Resolutions Provisions (one hour general)

The courses, which starts at 8 a.m. with registration and breakfast, conclude at 12:50 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Charlotte on South Tryon St.
