"The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners approved a Resolution yesterday that will reduce the fees for most building permits and related services by 50%, effective October 1, 2011.  This reduction applies to both residential and commercial activity.  Attached please find a copy of the Board agenda item and Resolution along with a notice of the Fee Reduction.  The Board took this action in response to industry requests for relief during the current economic climate .  The reduction is for a 15 month period from October 1, 2011 through December 31, 2012.   The important information is that this fee reduction ONLY AFFECTS APPLICATIONS OR REQUESTS FOR SERVICES SUBMITTED ON OR AFTER OCTOBER 1st , regardless as to when the permit is actually picked up/paid for.  There are a few items on the fee schedule that will not be discounted."  -- ABC Gulf Coast Chapter www.abcflgulf.com Trenton H. In Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Construction Industry Licensing Board v. Jack V. Organo , Case Nos. 11-0244PL and 11-0245PL, a recommended Order was entered on April 13, 2011 for two (2) fines of $250 each for failure to include notice of recovery fund in construction contracts, and two (2) fines of $3,000 and $1,000 each for commencing construction prior to obtaining building permits with two-year and one-year probation periods to run concurrently. The Construction Industry Licensing Board gave notice of the issuance of an Order regarding the Petition for Declaratory Statement for Anthony C. Apfelbeck, filed on December 6, 2010. The Notice of Petition for Declaratory Statement was published in Vol. 36, No. 52, of the December 30, 2010, Florida Administrative Weekly. The Board considered the Petition at a duly-noticed public meeting held on January 14, 2011. The Board’s Order, filed on February 18, 2011, denies the Petition for Declaratory Statement of Section 713.135, Florida Statutes (notice of commencement and applicabililty of lien). Petitioner is substantially affected as required by Section 120.565, Florida Statutes. The Board does not have jurisdiction to interpret Section 713.135, Florida Statutes.
