U.S. Jobless Claims Bump Up, but Trend Still Seen as Favorable
U.S. claims for jobless benefits rose by 24,000
last week, more than expected but at a time when numbers may have been
distorted by the Easter holiday. Economists said that the broader trend of
about 300,000 claims a week remains intact, indicating fewer firings by
employers anticipating renewed demand.
