Texas Roofing Trade Group Urges Licenses for Contractors

Licenses should be required for roofing contractors in Texas to protect homeowners and the reputation of honest roofing businesses, according to the North Texas Roofing Contractors Association. State Rep. Kenneth Sheets has twice proposed legislation on licenses for roofing contractors but both attempts failed. "We've lobbied the state legislature for the past three session and they don't appear interested in creating any type of licensing or registration for roofing contractors," said Karen Vermaire Fox, president of NTRCA.
