Weeki Wachee Mermaid Theater to Once Again Feature Clamshell Roof
The Newton Perry Underwater Theatre at
Weeki Wachee State Park is undergoing extensive roof renovations that will
restore the facility's iconic clamshell roof. Originally built in 1959, the
clamshell roof was designed to attract visitors to the underwater theater, but
it was replaced in the 1970s with a standard shingle roof.
